ENVS 330 - Soils & Environmental Geomorphology The role of soil in the environment goes beyond being the media for vegetation to grow. The pedosphere (soils) is a complex and dynamic system at the interface between the atmosphere, the lithosphere, and the biosphere in which essential cycles of elements occur that support life on earth. Understanding the processes involved in soil formation and development across spatial and temporal scale will be the focus of this course, with emphasis on the effect of anthropogenic activity, such as soil management and use of soil resources, in affecting food production and causing environmental and water management issues. Lecture, Laboratory, and Field Trips.
