ENVS 365 - Behavioral Ecology The ways in which the behavior of animals contributes to their fitness depends on their ecology. Behavioral ecology aims to understand the ways in which the behavior of animals interacts with their ecology to enhance their fitness. In order to understand how the behavior of animals interacts with their ecology, to influence their fitness, one must understand the causation, development, survival value and evolution of behavior. Therefore, the aim of this course is to develop an understanding of the survival value of the behavior of animals by critically examining their causation, development, survival value and evolution within an ecological context. This will be achieved through classroom lectures, reviews and discussions of selected primary literature.
