HIST 302 - Frontiers in America Explores the history, from discovery until the 1850s, of America’s “frontiers.” Examines the meanings given to the word frontier, from a boundary between civilization and barbarism to a zone of cultural exchange and interaction. Investigates regions such as New England, Louisiana, New Mexico, and the Great Lakes area to understand how settlers, slaves, and Native Americans interacted in America’s founding years.
