REL 226 - Global Christianities II This course explores how Christianity continued to evolve across diverse communities with contesting perspectives about Christian beliefs and practices. Examines aspects of the ecclesial and everyday history of Christianity by highlighting various Christian peoples and cultures from different historical, social, and global contexts, ranging from the 15th century to the present and paying particular attention to Christianity in the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Addresses global issues - the relationships between religion and gender, colonialist as well as freedom movements, war, and national identity, for example - and considers those issues as equally important factors in the evolution of Christianity.
