ART 102 - Image/Text in Visual Media

This art history course examines the relation of an image to a framing text in a variety of historical and contemporary examples, including Renaissance symbol dictionaries, late seventeenth-century French fashion prints accompanied by couplets, Goya’s Caprichos, the Huntington’s Chinese garden, Toulouse-Lautrec’s posters, Salvatore Dali’s animated feature Destino, and other Disney produced animated films, for example, Zootopia.
