ENGL 366 - Whitman and Melville This course examines Walt Whitman’s “Leaves of Grass” and Herman Melville’s “Moby-Dick”, arguably the two most important singular literary achievements of the American nineteenth century. These landmark texts are crucial for their moment and perhaps even more so for their continuing cultural presence and influence to the present day, elements of which will be part of the agenda of the class. Pre-req: ENGL 110 or 120. Recommended: ENGL 221.
