COSC 320 - Computer Organization and Architecture This course covers the basic organization of the von Neumann machine, machine-level representation of data and instructions, and assembly language programming. Specific topics will include the instruction fetch/decode/execute cycle; machine representation of integers, floating-point numbers, characters, records, and arrays; instruction sets; addressing modes; subroutine call and return mechanisms; input/output and interrupts; heap, static, stack, and code segments; and shared-memory multiprocessors.
Pre-req: C- or better in COSC 240 3 credits
