ENVS 230 - The Chemical Nature of our Environment


This course describes chemical processes in the environment. This includes 1.) The chemistry of the atmosphere, the stratosphere (Ozone layer), and indoor and outdoor ground-level air pollution; 2.) The greenhouse effect, fossil-fuel energy, carbon dioxide emissions, climate change, renewable energy, alternative fuels; 3.) chemical tox.ins, radioactive pollutants, water chemistry and water pollution; 4.). Toxic heavy metals, wastes, soil, landfills; 5.) Green chemistry processes.
