ART 121 - Media and Technology for the Visual Arts A beginning hands-on production course that introduces students to various forms of art-making that utilize emerging media and technology. The course will focus on using a range of digital media such as 3D modeling, 3D animation, 3D scanning, mixed reality (AR/XR), Artificial Intelligence, and video game engines such as Unreal Engine 5 for virtual production.
Conceptual content will focus on the intersection of art, technology, design, science, and emerging platforms for artists, designers, and visual content producers. Course readings and assignments will pay particular attention to the impact, both positive and negative, of these emerging technologies on art, humanity, and culture.
