AFBL 103 - American Popular Music This course examines the social and parallel musical development of postwar United States. American popular music will not be viewed as a trend in contemporary society, but as an expression: of commodification, of the incorporation of experience, authenticity, and subjectivity (ideology), of textual schizophrenia, of the postmodern disappearance of reality, and of new forms of cultural resistance.
