ART 225 - Art and Politics This course introduces students to various topics and debates in the fields of art history and visual culture. We will explore art made in the context of cultural, social, and political movements including the Mexican Revolution, Harlem Renaissance, and the Civil Rights Movement. We will visually examine prints, murals, paintings, as well as public projects. We will discuss art as a tool for social change, the role of socially engaged artists, and the role of public institutions.
