EDUC 503 - Teaching Content Area Literacy
This course consists of research and methodology for preparing secondary teachers to teach content-based reading and writing skills to all students. Topics include reading comprehension skills, literacy, vocabulary, strategies for promoting oral and written language, phonological/structure of the English language, and writing across the curriculum. Certificate of Clearance required to complete 50 hours of fieldwork (placement provided by Director of Student Teaching). Individuals taking this course must earn at least a B- for the course to count towards preliminary credential.
