HIST 345 - Modern Cuba Introduction to the study of Cuban history, culture, and politics from the sixteenth century. Topical discussions include indigenous-European contacts, the role of Cuba in international trade, the expansion of the sugar industrial complex, voluntary migrations, slavery and abolition, gender and sexuality, environmental degradation and sustainability, ideology, revolt, and revolution.
Pre-req: HIST 242 or HIST 246 3 credits
