SOC 358 - Population Problems & Policy This course provides an opportunity to develop quantitative skills in the analysis of population processes and in the formulation of policies attempting to intervene in these processes or to take them into consideration within other public and private sector policy arenas. The course will be of particular relevance to those interested in actuarial science, in environmental sustainability, in social policy, and in urban and other governmental and service planning processes. We examine the necessity, techniques, and precariousness of demographic projections in such areas. The course will assume prior completion of the Quantitative Reasoning (QR) and Introductory Laboratory Science (ILS) requirements, or their equivalence for WSP and transfer students.
