REL 351 - Public & Popular Religion This course examines religious communities and themes in recent U.S. history, society, and politics since 1870. Topics include civil religion, Mormonism, African American as well as Latino/a traditions, religious approaches to prosperity and poverty, the rise of religious fundamentalisms, the roles of women in public religion, and intersections between religion and politics, especially the U.S. presidency.
