Engineering 3-2 Core Courses

In addition to satisfying the Whittier College Liberal Education requirements, all 3-2 students must complete the following 33 credits in science and mathematics with a 3.0 GPA:

PHYS 150 - Calculus-Based Physics I (Mechanics) 4 credits
PHYS 180 - Calculus-Based Physics II (Electricity and Magnetism) 4 credits
PHYS 185 - Calculus-Based Physics III (Optics, Waves, and Thermodynamics) 3 credits
MATH 141 - Calculus & Analytical Geometry I 4 credits
MATH 142 - Calculus & Analytical Geometry II 4 credits
MATH 241 - Calculus & Analytical Geometry III 4 credits
MATH 345A - Differential Equations I 3 credits
COSC 120 - Computer Science I 3 credits
CHEM 110A - General Chemistry I 4 credits

Note:

While not required in the core, for many engineering specialties it is advisable to take the second semester of General Chemistry, CHEM 110B , 4 credits.

Mathematics Major

3-2 students wishing to receive a B.A. in Mathematics in combination with an engineering degree must complete, in addition to the core courses, the following 15 credits in mathematics:

MATH 242 - Introduction to Applied Elementary Linear Algebra 3 credits
MATH 280 - Abstract Thinking 3 credits
And, three additional MATH or COSC courses at the 200 level or above, approved by the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science
