Pathway Integrating Child Development and Education Specialist (PICES)


PICES is an intensive program that allows students who major in Elementary Education & Child Development to also obtain a Preliminary Education Specialist Preliminary Teaching Credential. Students will complete all the required coursework for the Elementary Education & Child Development degree as well as the credential courses and additional requirements set forth by the state - including student teaching - to be recommended for a Preliminary Education Specialist Teaching Credential. The Elementary Education & Child Development major requirements remain the same as those listed above for PICES students. PICES Students complete additional coursework and requirements for either the Education Specialist: Mild to Moderate Support Needs Preliminary Credential and/or Education Specialist: Extensive Support Needs Preliminary Credential listed below.  

The program requires an application in the student’s sophomore year with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0.
