EDUC 503 - Teaching Content Area Literacy The course consists of research and methodology for preparing secondary teachers to teach content-based reading and writing skills to all students. Topics include: reading comprehension skills, elementary literacy, vocabulary, strategies for promoting oral and written language, phonological/structure of the English language, and writing across the curriculum. Individuals taking this course must earn at least a B- in order for the course to count towards preliminary credential. Fieldwork required. Requires Certificate of Clearance (CoC)
