BIOL 340 - Invertebrate Zoology


Invertebrate zoology is an examination of the diversity of animals without a backbone, focusing on morphological and functional adaptations of major groups such as sponges, jellies, worms, arthropods, mollusks, and sea stars. The course will include discussions on ecological, commercial, and medicinal importance of invertebrates, as well as current research on evolutionary relationship hypotheses to help students develop their critical thinking skills. Some dissections and examination of preserved specimens will be involved.
